The "Bruscello" takes place on August 15 (Assumption Day) in front of the Duomo in Montepulciano with one or two repeats of the event in the days just before and after August 15.

Performances are given by amateurs, and the event is deeply rooted in popular traditions throughout the Valdichiana and the Valdorcia.

The steps of the Duomo serve as a stage where the performers interpret the roles of ballad singers, historical figures, warriors and common people by singing in diverse musical styles in a form of singing theater based on popular songs from the province of Siena.
